My Idea of a Good Student

Am I a good student? Every student asks himself this ques-tion. Some students may. have wrong ideas of what a good student is. They think a good student is one who studies all the subjects well and listens to the teachers all the time, but, actually these ones don't care about anything apart from study.

Then what is a good student?

Firstly, he has clear world values. He knows what he should do and what he shouldn't do. He pays respect to teachers and old people?and helps others as much as he can. It doesn't matter how he does in the exam, although this is very important.

Secondly, to learn as much as possible is our responsibility as students. So a good student always tries to learn from both text-books and other books. Besides reading, he also likes sports and enjoys doing manual work. He develops in all-round way.

Thirdly, he has a strong character and~will-power. Because we have troubles every day. How to face the difficulties in study and our lives is very important. A good student won't be afraid of difficulties. He'll always try his best though he knows he may fail. He will never give up.

This is the good student in my eyes. You may have different ideas. But be a good student anyway.

An Interesting Debate

Today is Sunday. After supper, father, mother and I went to the pardk. I sat on the back of father's bike. After a while, father said, "Girl, you should lose weight." MotheraGREed with father. But I thought it wasn't bad for me. So I said, "No, I don't want to. I like to be myself. Do you know the famous actress named Fei Fei in Hong Kong? She is very fat but very popular with the audience." "But few fat people can become famous," father didn't agree with me. And mother continued, "You know, a lot of illnesses are caused by obesity, such as heart disease, hypertension and so on."

It seemed I had two opponents. I should try my best to defeat them. So I quibbled, "There's nothing to be worried about. Anyway, the medical technology has been developed so advanced." And then I directed the spearhead at mother, "You are also so fat. Why don't you want to lose weight'?" Mother sighed, "I dowant to. But it's not good for me to do so. I'min my forties while you are so young. If you can do more exercises and control your diet, you'll easily lose weight." "No, you're rong. I said loudly. "Some experts say that exercises can't help people lose weight because they will eat more after the exercise."

Father and mother looked at each other and didn't know' what to say. I won the debate! I stopped laughing when I heard father saying, "Fat daughter, please get off my bike." Oh, no!

I think Internet has advantage and disadvantage.Advantage of Internet is that you can do anything that you want on Internet when it was connected to independent world such as download data, programs, game, picture etc. But Internet has risk to receive spy ware, it attempts to disable or delete anti-spy ware tool and suppress warning massages given to users, it damages your data or system in your computer. Moreover, you have risk to find the bad persons when chat in chat room especially women. You can found the crime news on the newspapers. The news said they have many victim from chatting with unknown people by the victim were believed implicitly. In conclusion, many people still use Internet because it is useful and comfortable The usage of Internet becomes one of the most controversial topics in the society. As a college student, I believe Internet is beneficial to me more than the way it harms me. There are many advantages for using Internet. First, I can best use my time to find information online instead of going to different libraries. Also, the information can be dated back in decades ago. It is very helpful to use those information as reference and historical proof. In the library, it is hard to find so much "old" information. Another advantage to use Internet is that I can stay home and have a lecture online. It is much more convenience to me because I can stay warm to have class in the winter time instead of spending two hours on the bus and physically attend class. In addition, Internet provides me a better way to communicate with my friends and professors. I can get response from my professor in a few minutes instead of waiting outside of his door for hours. Some of my friends are living in a foreign countries, I can simply just drop him an email whenever I can and get a message from him very quick. It is much better than waiting for letters. Also, the email will not lose while the letter might be losing in the process of delivery. However, there are also disadvantage of using Internet. For example, I might spend too much time on the Internet to concentrate on my study. Also, there is a chance that I am cheated because of the Internet purchasing. Last, Internet has lots of information, both helpful and harmful. There might be too much tempatation that I will access some of the harmful information I can on the Internet. Even though the usage of Internet has both positive and negative effect to me, I still consider Internet is a symbol of technology development. I believe I can use the Internet very well as long as I know how to control Now, regardless of what you entered the family or the office will invariably see a computer, and even our classroom is also installed on the PC platform. Yes, the network can help us do so many things, it enables us to learn some textbooks fail to learn the knowledge, the Internet can also watch movies, listen to music, but also in some online shopping, convenient and fast , QQ chat can help us to find close friends, but there are now many people in the online business, and so on. In short, the network can not differentiate the benefits. However, the network is not perfect. . Because more friends you have ,more care you get .And whatever you go throught what kind of hardship ,you will get more help from your friends . The other side think if you join too many activities is bad for your study .It's also hard to keep so many friendship .When the friendship broken you will seffer more pain and hard to walk out.

Dear editor: Recently we have had a heated discussion on whether people should keep pets at home in cities.Different students have different views.
