one less book從表達上看是對的。

有一首英語歌是這樣唱的“There's gonna be one less lonely girl ”，譯為“將會少了一個孤單的女孩”。

中國電影《一個都不能少》的英譯名也是“Not One Less ”

這裡less都用來修飾了可數名詞，雖然不符合傳統語法（傳統上應該用fewer），但媒體中使用頻率很高，已經為人們所接受。

不過，任何時候都不能斷章取義，要根據上下文靈活翻譯。

比如“我少了一本書（缺少一本）”，可以說 I need one more book， 也可以說I have a book missing. 而不說 I have one less book.

如果說“我的書會減少一本”，可以說 I'm going to have one less book. 或者There's going to be one less book for me.
