無論是美式英語還是英式英語，日期都要讀成序數詞，但是寫的時候可以寫成基數詞或者基數詞加上序數詞英語表達法的最後兩個字母。

5月17日英語的寫法分為英式和美式

英式：17 May 或 17th May

美式：May 17 或 May 17th

這裡的17直接用數字寫出來，th直接跟在17的後面即可。

英語中日期有兩種寫法，一種是按月、日、年的順序排列，另一種是按日、月、年的順序排列.

1、把月份寫在日期前面，這通常是美國寫法。如：March 21st,2001 讀作March the twenty-first, two thousand and one(2001年3月21日)

2、先寫日子，再寫月份和年，這通常是英國寫法。如：：21st March,2001讀作the twenty-first of March, two thousand and one
